Mission: Visiting VEKA industry

VEKA, world leader in the development, production and marketing of PVC profile systems for windows, blinds and doors is a German company founded in 1969 by the Laumann family.

On Friday, March 15, we visited the facilities of VEKA.

They prepared a very interesting mini-congress in which we learned the history of the factory and the manufacturing processes they use. Then we were able to visit the factory and the quality facilities.

All this happened inside a futuristic house: Espacio Futura. A smart home that regulates temperature, humidity, CO2 concentration … in short, the comfort of its inhabitants. Maybe we have new ideas to build our Moon Base

It was a different morning that allowed us to get in touch with the world of the industry.

Coming soon … more photos and video!
We are very grateful!

Apollo 21 in the II Scientix National Congress 2019

During the II ScientixNational Congress  2019, held at MUNCYT Alcobendas (Madrid) on February 2 and 3, 2019, the Apollo 21 blog was mentioned by our teacher, Miguel Ángel, in the round table Gender and STEM.

Later, in the special The adventure of knowledge – 02/27/19, you can also see our blog.

We are very excited!

Astronautas en acción/Astronauts in action

Compartiendo.

Houston, we have a problem!

Cover of the comic.

Our classmates surprise us with a fantastic science fiction comic based on the Apollo 13 odyssey and a videogame set in “Mario Bros”. (Click here to play the video game)

Do not stop reading it and playing! Although, we regret it … only in Spanish.

Benefiting from coding in the space science

We mentioned how we taught the space area career opportunities to the students in the previous blog. And today I wrote about how to integrate technology in space area works.

Have a nice reading!

In the last years, it is claimed that teaching coding is even more important than teaching foreign language. I think we can integrate coding and space areas which are very important two things for our students’ future according to me. As you know that, before high school the students are taught block based coding.

Block based coding is used both it is enjoyable for the students and to give the basis of coding. I gave information to six different classes about space science by using Kodu Game Lab and Minecraft Education Edition in my school.

The students design either the planets which are chosen as a theme or their dreamy planets and they transformed it a game. As playing the games that they made themselves, unawares they learnt a lot of things about science.

The results were really satisfying…

On the other hand in high schools, there aren’t many opportunities to use block based coding. We made some applications by using the students’ coding abilities. This time, I asked students to design educational software that give basic information about science. While they were doing it, they learnt a lot of things about science. In fact the idea that somebody else uses that software made them to do it impeccable.

So I think I gave them the information about space by using coding again.

If you can share your coding works with us, I will be very happy about it.

Life in Space

And… at least… Life in Space Trailer!

Our colleagues, the Life in Space team, have presented us with their film project.

Soon we will have it on our screens.

Surely it is an impressive production!
